‘A centre is a pole of attraction for citizens'

A centrality area is a pole of attraction for people where a type of activity is created, whether it is cultural, recreational, etc. As examples we could highlight the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), in the municipality of Cerdanyola del Vallès, or the centre of Barcelona. They are both meeting points for people of the same municipality, the metropolis or even the rest of Catalonia.

A good centre must have a good concentration of main and complementary uses, as well as services that cover the population's needs. In this regard, the UAB has restaurant services, sports facilities and open spaces that complement the University's main activity.

The centres are mobility hubs, and for this reason their accessibility needs to be good, especially with public transport, so they may be accessed by everyone and also prevent polluting emissions.
